Im about to attempt a deepfake with the destination subject wearing a baseball hat. has anyone done this before? are there anythings I should be concerned with? this will be a WF replacement.

Yes it's been done before. Be aware of hat shadow and the impact it might have. Otherwise it's just about masking.
