Is is possible to use an AMD Firepro s9050?

Post by joppie »

I am a total noob at using faceswap, so im sorry if my question is stupid

Currently I use a GTX 1660, but it only has 6gb of VRAM and I saw that the AMD Firepro s9050 has 12gb VRAM, and I found it for a pretty low price. And now I am wondering if it would work, and if it would be able to train bigger models than my current GPU. (GTX 1660) Does anyone know the answer?

Thanks in advance!

It would work, but Nvidia cards are better supported.

My word is final

It's also important to note that is a card from 2014. It will likely run much slower than more modern cards. Though that is a plenty of ram for larger models. The question you have to ask yourself is would it be worth the additional time in order to get higher quality.

thanks you for the information.
Would an amd firepro s9150 also work even though it has no monitor output?
And would faceswap detect that gpu even if I have another gpu (nvidia GTX 1660) installed in another PCIE slot?

Yes and yes, You would need to configure Faceswap for AMD (done at install stage).
