Stuck on loading screen

Post by carpet44 »

My setup is windows 10 and 17 4770k cpu with 32GB ram.
Installation goes smooth, installs all requirements and then reboot, but when I try to run, the loading screen is stuck at the same loading screen while the bar is flashing with no message, BUT! if I minimize a window that is on desktop with the loading screen behind, I can see for a fraction of second a window that says "application is not responding" and a button below that says "restart". Please note that this window does not stay on top and there is no way to push the restart button. I have tried many times to restart and install again, but it shows me the same.
I searched the forum but I didn't find anything similar.
Please help.

P.S. On my program folder there's no "faceswap_gui_launcher.bat" like I read in a previous post.

First question... Do you have a GPU? If not, then I would give up now, as training these models on CPU isn't really feasible.

No, I don't have any GPU at the moment. I have some old ATI 5970, but I don't think they are compatible. If they are please tell me so I can search/test them.
I don't mind for cpu time. I want first to test and then invest in a good modern GPU and run it on newer hardware.

Ok, if you use the installer, this file 'faceswap_gui_launcher.bat' will be in the folder that Faceswap was installed. Normally in C:\users\<username>\faceswap

Locate this file, open it in a text editor and copy the contents.
Open a command prompt and paste the contents.
Copy the output and paste here.

Nope. There's not such file. Take a look at the screenshot/attachment of the directory.
I've tried to completely uninstall and install it back again with reboots, but no .bat file.

What steps are you taking to install Faceswap (including links you are using)

That folder structure is wrong. It is missing some logfiles which should have been generated and the requirements files are in the wrong place. None of which should be possible.

had faceswap running for a couple of months with no problem. now, if it dosen't say 'restart now'. it will just load forever, and i do mean, forever! can it be fixed or should i cancel account and try somewhere else.
ps. i am a tech thicko, before you start talking jibberish! ;)

I'm not sure I fully understand your problem.

The first thing I would suggest, though, is following these steps as it solves 90% of issues:
app.php/faqpage#f1r1

If this doesn't fix this issue, then please can you provide me with more detail about your setup (OS, GPU etc) as well as the exact steps you take to hit your issue, and how that issue manifests itself.

it was working perfectly untill about two weeks ago. tried everything! even deleted everything to re-install. now when i try to load app, it says 'initialising' then, you guessed it, it says 'no response from the '.
FED UP WITH IT NOW.

I asked before, and I will ask again. You need to give me considerably more detail for me to be able to help you in any way.

Specifically:

  • your setup (OS, GPU etc)
  • The exact steps you take to hit your issue.
  • How the issue manifests itself.

Actually, are you even on the forum for the right software? From the tiny bit of information I can glean from your messages, I suspect not.

should i cancel account and try somewhere else.

What account? Which software are you referring to? what is the exact issue?

if it dosen't say 'restart now'.

What doesn't say 'restart now'?

it says 'no response from the '

What says 'no response from the'?

This is all fairly meaningless to me, so either you are looking for support for software that I have no idea about and are on the wrong forum (can easily click the logo at the top of this page to find out which software we are), or you will need to articulate your issue better.
