(long-ish description - TLDR; below.... )
I wasn't sure where to post this ( oh, btw - hi guys, I'm 0zy. I'm new here and I'm really enjoying the software ) but I noticed this first when I was training so I thought it may be relevant here.
I installed the latest version of faceswap on my ubuntu desktop about a month ago, followed the guides and everything worked well until I got to the training phase. Here I received some python error messages ( that I no longer have ). I started fiddling with things - reading through this forum and tweaking things here and there and perhaps doing more harm than good. At the end of the day, I did get it working and was pleased as punch to see my model being trained at 6 iterations per second ( I had no idea what to expect ).
Out of curiosity, I installed the same version on a laptop with a weaker ( but still nvidia ) gpu and let it train. Here I was getting over 60 itersations per second which surprised me. I did some more research and found the nvidia-smi utility - and ran that a few times and saw that my gpu on the desktop was sleeping whereas the gpu on the laptop was chugging along serenly.
Hmm, so - I reinstalled the software on the desktop again, making sure that I chose 'nvidia' ( although I was sure I did so before - and each time I started the app, I'd get the message that it was using the nvidia backend ). Still the same thing. Odd. So - I installed the software on my windows partition ( it is a dual boot system ) - and sure enough, I got over 100 iterations per second ( I wanted to rule out any bios settings I may have forgotten ).
[TLDR:] GPU training works on windows but not on linux
So, if someone could take a look at my config and tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'd be very grateful.
