A report from cnet https://www.cnet.com/news/creator-of-to ... ok-videos/news suggest that it was made a VFX guy who goes by the name Chris Ume.

This article is talking about a different video but it is also from the same tiktok account @deeptomcruise .

The article also clearly says that " Ume wants to make it clear that his intentions were purely creative, and that it's not so easy for anyone to create videos as convincing as his -- at least not with where the technology currently stands. He spent two months training an AI model, several days shooting the clips and around 24 hours on post-production for each video". Plus he says he is a deepfake specialist.

He also has a YouTube channel by the name VFXChris Ume. I think for face swapping, he only uses DFL. You can also see his YouTube channel mentioned on the DFL website along with other YouTube channels.

Not only this CNET article but I have read some other articles last week which also suggest that the creator of this video is this Ume guy.

But he himself says that he is a professional VFX guy with all the hardware that is needed for this purpose & with good commanding skills in various other video editing studio softwares.

This is why I requesting here on faceswap forum that someone (including our faceswap developers) who has time, skills & hardware resources should also create such great swapped videos so that this awesome GUI friendly software which goes by the name FACESWAP can also go hit like DFL.

I am out of both time & money otherwise I would have tried my best to create something.

Thank you.

In love with the the RealFace model.

Rachel's tweet is kind of self aggrandizing I predicted this two years ago and its been two years to the dot and look what we have
I mean the technology existed that this could have easily been made a year ago if not two.
But I don't disagree with her message. On the surface, having a synthetic media detection or label seems like a good idea. Perhaps this is something that can be incorporated into a digital bill of rights.

This man has got connections.

So does that imply a yes to imposters original question? It was done at least some part on faceswap? Since he worked for you both a little? The video on cnet article uses visuals of masks on his face almost like there trying to convey the idea that he simply erased the guys face and copy and pasted tom cruises face on him.

Here's another article https://fortune.com/2021/03/05/tom-crui ... regulated/ which clearly says he used DFL -

" Ume said he uses free, open-source software called DeepFaceLab as the basis of his deepfakes. But he employs powerful graphics processing computer hardware to run this A.I. system, and, in this case, trained it on a database of 13,000 images of Tom Cruise that capture the actor from almost every conceivable angle. Ume said he then fine-tuned that Tom Cruise deepfake face generator on another, smaller data set containing between 5,000 to 6,000 additional Cruise images.

In total, training the Cruise deepfake generator took about two months, Ume said. Once his deepfake model is pretrained for this period, it can reliably generate new versions of Cruise’s head doing almost anything. At that point, it takes an additional two to three days to create the deepfakes specific to each of the short TikTok videos" .

In love with the the RealFace model.
