Not a question but a possible bug - Remove Faces in Alignment Tool

This has happened several times within the past 2 or 3 updates. Removing more than several thousand faces at once from the alignment file causes a critical failure. I had this happen again yesterday when deleting 19,000 faces, and then immediately after when deleting only 4,000+ faces from the same video. I was unable to remove any faces from the video through the alignment tool; manual was fine.

I haven't had this happen before until about 3 (maybe 4) weeks ago.

Torz, I don't know if you're reading this, but I think I figured it out after it happened again.

Putting the filter folders in the faces folder is causing a confusion with the alingment file when running "remove faces". Maybe add a warning to check the folders have been deleted before running frame removal?

I've been keeping the filter folders in case I can add faces that were filtered out in a future update, so I wouldn't have to re-run extractions. It makes sense now because it's been going on for a few updates, about the same time as when you added the filter feature.

I've been getting the same thing. I tested on a small sample to see if it would repeat, it did. hope this helps. Thanks for the awesome work!

Guys, just in case you're still stuck, try deleting the filter folders and/or any faces you may have dropped into your faces folder by accident (or intentionally,) then re-run.

I searched the faces folder twice and didn't find anything that didn't belong. Or do you mean something different?

There is anywhere between one to 5 folders at the beginning of your Faces Folder (where you store your faces): _align_filt_distance ; _align_filt_max_scale ; _identity_filt ; etc.

These folders have the rejected faces your filters have thrown out.

They all start with " _ "

Move or delete these folders out of the folder where you store your faces.

If you don't see these folders than it's a different issue, and start a new thread.

(You can also go to your settings and under "extract" uncheck the "Save Filter" button. -- And while there I also turn my "Roll Filter" up to 90. 😉)

I am removing the bug tag from this.

I think this issue has been resolved in a couple of slightly related updates to the remove-faces job.

I would really appreciate confirmation that the issue is fixed. If not, some data/reproducible steps to create this issue would be appreciated, as I can then look to fix permanently.

It's not a filter.

Basically 2 bug-fixes for edge cases went into remove-faces.

  • Faces which are not owned by the alignments file are ignored
  • When faces appear twice (i.e. the same face index, in the same frame, but with a different filename), any extras are moved to a _dupiicates folder from where they can probably be deleted

I don't know if this fixes the issue in this thread, as I could not recreate it and the solution proposed does not really make much sense in terms of what the code does (the code does not 'walk' into sub-folders, so the presence of sub-folders should make no difference.)
